Clifford Smallman

Clifford Smallman is a Managing Director and Co-Head of the Media & Communications Investment Banking Group at Cantor Fitzgerald.

Mr. Smallman has over 17 years of experience in the investment banking and investment advisory business.  During his career Clifford has worked on over $12 billion in strategic advisory and M&A assignments, $1.4 billion of corporate restructurings and the issuance of over $30 billion of public/private debt, equity and convertible securities for Media, Communications and Payment Service companies.

Mr. Smallman joined Cantor Fitzgerald in June 2010 from Waller Capital, a Mergers & Acquisitions boutique focused on the Media & Communications industries. He was previously Managing Partner of VALNIC Capital LLC, a firm he co-founded in late 2004. Which was focused on providing M&A advice to companies in the Payments, Media & Communications and Real Estate industries.

Clifford started his career in 1991 as a Financial Analyst with Deutsche Bank AG, initially in Frankfurt and London and then from 1993 onwards, in New York.  In 1995, as an Associate he co-founded Deutsche Morgan Grenfell’s US Telecommunications Investment Banking Group, and shortly thereafter he was promoted to Vice President.  From 1998 to 2004, Clifford worked at Credit Suisse First Boston, where he was a Director in the Media & Telecommunications Group.

Clifford received a BA Honors & DEBA in Business Administration from the European Business School in London as well as a Baccalaureate +4 and a Diploma in European Business Administration from EBS sister schools in Paris, France and Wiesbaden, Germany.
