Jonathan Rein

Mr. Rein is a Managing Director of Cantor Fitzgerald & Co., based in the New York office, where he focuses on companies in the real estate, gaming, lodging and leisure sectors.  He has originated and/or executed over $40 billion of advisory and financing transactions in these sectors

Mr. Rein was previously a Principal of Global Leisure Partners, a UK-based merchant bank backed by Goldman Sachs and Oaktree that provides advisory services to and makes principal investments in the gaming, lodging & leisure sectors.

Prior to joining GLP, Mr. Rein was a senior banker in Credit Suisse's gaming, lodging & leisure practice, where his responsibilities included buy- and sell-side idea generation, M&A deal sourcing and execution (including all aspects of valuation, due diligence, structuring, negotiation and documentation), and debt and equity financing.  In addition to general sector coverage responsibilities, Mr. Rein largely led the sponsor coverage effort within gaming, lodging and leisure, advising and financing sponsors such as TPG and Apollo in their $28 billion acquisition of Harrah's, Dubai World in its $5 billion investments in MGM Mirage and City Center, and both Morgans Hotel Group and DLJ Merchant Banking with respect to their investment in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, as well as structuring the innovative $3.5 billion acquisition and construction financing for the  Goldman Sachs / Istithmar / Colony Capital consortium's leveraged buyout of Kerzner International.  Mr. Rein also worked closely with DLJ Merchant Banking (a unit of Credit Suisse) in evaluating and managing a number of investments in the gaming, lodging & leisure sector.

Previously, Mr. Rein was an investment banker at CIBC World Markets, where he also focused on the gaming & lodging sectors; Montgomery & Co., where he specialized in media & entertainment; and Gleacher & Co., where he spent seven years in the New York and London offices as an M&A banker, also evaluating and making principal investments on behalf of the firm.

He received his B.A. in economics cum laude from Harvard.
