Howard W. Lutnick is Chairman & CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald L.P., one of the world’s leading financial services firms, and Chairman & CEO of BGC Partners Inc., a leading global brokerage company primarily servicing the wholesale financial and real estate markets. Mr. Lutnick guided the rebuilding of Cantor Fitzgerald following the devastating September 11, 2001, World Trade Center attacks that claimed the lives of 658 of the firm’s 960 New York-based employees. Since then, Cantor has provided over $180 million to help the families of the firm’s employees who were lost on that day. Cantor and its affiliates now have more than 4,000 employees in New York and over 10,000 globally.
Since 9/11, Mr. Lutnick has been recognized as a symbol of resilience and his story has been widely covered by top financial publications. Mr. Lutnick was named the Financial Times Person of the Year in 2001; additional media highlights include stories published by The New York Times: “From Devastation to Determination at Cantor Fitzgerald,” on September 10, 2002, and “The Survivor Who Saw the Future for Cantor Fitzgerald,” on September 3, 2011. Most recently, Mr. Lutnick’s story was highlighted in the History Channel documentary, “15 Septembers Later.”
Mr. Lutnick graduated from Haverford College in 1983 with a degree in economics and joined Cantor Fitzgerald the same year. Mr. Lutnick served on the Haverford College Board of Managers for 21 years, including as vice-chair and chair. He has also served on the boards of the Zachary and Elizabeth M. Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Disease Research, the Intrepid Museum Foundation and the National September 11 Memorial Museum. Mr. Lutnick received the Navy’s Distinguished Public Service Award, the highest honor granted by the Navy to non-military personnel. He also was the recipient of the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award at Haverford. Mr. Lutnick and his wife Allison have four children.
As President of Cantor Fitzgerald L.P., Anshu Jain works alongside Howard W. Lutnick, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Jain directs strategy, vision and operational foundation across Cantor Fitzgerald’s strong client-focused businesses.
Mr. Jain was Co-CEO of Deutsche Bank from June 2012 to June 2015. He was also a member of the Management Board since 2009 and the Group Executive Committee since 2002. Mr. Jain joined Deutsche Bank from Merrill Lynch in 1995. He is widely recognized for building the bank’s markets business and for helping transform Deutsche Bank into a global universal bank with a leading investment banking franchise. Mr. Jain has advised governments and industry bodies around the world. He led Deutsche Bank’s team advising the UK Treasury on financial stability, sat on the Board of Directors of the Institute of International Finance and was a member of the Financial Services Forum. He served on the International Advisory Panel of the Monetary Authority of Singapore. An ardent conservationist, Mr. Jain is working with environment and wildlife conservation groups in many parts of the world.
Mr. Jain received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics, with honors, from the University of Delhi and his MBA in Finance degree, Beta Gamma Sigma, from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Chief Executive Officer, Cantor Fitzgerald & Co.
Shawn Matthews has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. since 2009. He joined Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. in 2005 and served in several senior management roles.
Mr. Matthews started his career at Wertheim Schroeder & Co in 1990 and has spent the last 25 years in a senior management role, having run both desks and departments at several firms. He has also been the managing member of a broker-dealer, West Side Capital, as well as the managing partner of Alchemist Capital Management, a hedge fund. Mr. Matthews is on the board of several entities and is a former board member of the Securities Industry and Finance Markets Association. Mr. Matthews holds a B.S. in Finance from Fairfield University and an M.B.A. from Hofstra University.
Executive Managing Director, General Counsel
Stephen Merkel is Executive Managing Director, General Counsel and Secretary of Cantor Fitzgerald, L.P. He joined the firm in 1993 and oversees all legal and compliance globally for the firm. He is also Executive Vice-President, General Counsel and Secretary of BGC Partners, Inc. Previously, he was the Director, Senior Vice-President, General Counsel and Secretary of eSpeed.
Prior to joining Cantor Fitzgerald, Mr. Merkel was Vice-President and Assistant General Counsel at Goldman Sachs & Co., dedicated to the J. Aron Division. He began his career at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison.
Mr. Merkel graduated with a B.A. Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania and received his law degree from the University of Michigan School of Law.
Executive Managing Director, Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer of Cantor, Steven Bisgay is responsible for all financial operations, including accounting, finance, regulatory reporting, treasury and financial planning and analysis, as well as credit and market risk management. Mr. Bisgay is a seasoned veteran with over 25 years of experience in the securities and financial services industry.
Prior to joining Cantor, Mr. Bisgay was the Chief Financial Officer of KCG Holdings. Before his appointment as Chief Financial Officer, he served as Knight Capital Group, Inc.’s Executive Vice-President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to these appointments, Mr. Bisgay served as Senior Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He has also served on the Board of Managers of Direct Edge Holdings LLC, until its merger with BATS Global Markets, Inc.
Mr. Bisgay is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a BS in Accounting from Binghamton University and an MBA from Columbia University. He is also registered with FINRA and holds a Series 27 Financial Operations Principal License.
Senior Managing Director, Head of Human Resources & Partnership
Lori Pennay is a Senior Managing Director and Global Head of Human Resources and Partnership for Cantor Fitzgerald and BGC Partners, Inc. She oversees all human resources, compensation, and partnership administration functions for the firm globally. Previously, Ms. Pennay served as a Vice-President and Assistant General Counsel, where she provided legal advice and representation to Cantor and BGC with respect to employment and partnership matters.
Prior to joining Cantor Fitzgerald, Ms. Pennay served as employment counsel for Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC, where she was primarily responsible for providing legal advice and representation for the private banking and certain back office divisions. She began her career as an employment lawyer with the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP.
Ms. Pennay holds a B.A. from Pennsylvania State University with High Distinction honors and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Senior Managing Director, Head of Investment Banking
Sage Kelly is a Senior Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking at Cantor Fitzgerald. Mr. Kelly has over 20 years of experience in investment banking, most recently serving as the Head of Healthcare Investment Banking at Jefferies from 2009 to 2015. Prior to Jefferies, Mr. Kelly served as a Managing Director at UBS where he worked from 1999-2009, and at Salomon Smith Barney in the Healthcare Investment Banking Group from 1994-1999. Mr. Kelly also spent three years working in the biotechnology industry for the Genetics Institute, where his work and findings were published in Biotech Monthly.
Mr. Kelly graduated from Boston College with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, finance, and economics.
Senior Managing Director, Head of Equities
Pascal Bandelier joined the Cantor Fitzgerald and Co. as Head of Equities, based in New York.
Pascal Bandelier was the Head of Equity Execution Trading at Barclays, where he was responsible for the trading, sales trading, desk analyst and low-touch electronic businesses during his tenure at Barclays since 2013. Prior to Barclays, Mr. Bandelier was Head of TMT Cash Equity Trading, at Morgan Stanley, and Head of Cash Equity Trading & Risk at Nomura, where he grew the business from 67th to 10th in market share in less than one year. From 2001 to 2010, Mr. Bandelier worked at Barclays/Lehman Brothers, starting his career as a Cash Equity Trader and joining Barclays in the merger as the Managing Director, Head of TMT Cash Equity Trading & Co-Head of Equity Risk.
Mr. Bandelier graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor’s degree in economics.
Senior Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CCRE
Previously, Mr. Orso was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse and Co-Head of the Credit Suisse Real Estate Direct Group where he was responsible for over $100 billion in North American real estate loan origination and over $30 billion of high yield real estate debt and equity distribution. Mr. Orso oversaw the expansion of the business in the US, Mexico, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East, with offices in Dubai and Mexico City.
Mr. Orso serves on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York and on the Executive Board of Directors of Stars Club, a non-profit organization which assists underprivileged students in their academic pursuits.
Mr. Orso is a graduate of Columbia Business School where he received an MBA in Finance, and St. John’s University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Senior Managing Director, Head of Prime Services
Mr. Jon Yalmokas is Global Head of Prime Services at Cantor Fitzgerald. Mr. Yalmokas has more than 22 years of experience in equities, financing, operations, risk & technology and client management. He has spent his entire career helping hedge fund clients build and grow their businesses.
Most recently, Mr. Yalmokas was the Americas Head of Prime Services at Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML), responsible for all aspects of the company’s prime brokerage platform; distribution, capital introductions/consulting, financing, risk, client services and technology. Jon helped to grow BAML to a top tier market share position in Global Prime Services.
Prior to BAML, he was at UBS, where he held several increasingly senior positions in prime brokerage, swaps and derivatives sales and trading, most recently he was head of US Delta One Products and Prime Brokerage Distribution and advisory.
Prior to UBS, Mr. Yalmokas spent five years at Goldman Sachs building its U.S. Equity financing and synthetic products within Prime Brokerage.
Before that, he worked for six years at Merrill Lynch in its London office in equity derivatives and financing roles.
Mr. Yalmokas holds a B.A. from Boston College.
He is a 2017 board member of the Managed Funds Association.
Senior Managing Director, Chief Marketing Officer & Head of Corporate Communications
Karen Laureano-Rikardsen leads all marketing and corporate communications programs for the company globally. Partnering with senior executives across the organization and its affiliated businesses, she is responsible for raising the company’s profile and visibility to help meet core business objectives and to enhance its brand identity with internal and external stakeholders.
Ms. Laureano-Rikardsen was most recently with CRT Capital Group where she spearheaded corporate access to equity and fixed income clients, managed all branding and marketing of multi-sector conferences, as well as media and corporate communications, including distressed and special situations. Prior to CRT, she was Head of Communications for Global Equities, Latin America, at Credit Suisse and served as the senior lead on crisis communications management. Earlier in her career, she served as Head of Corporate and External Affairs at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, where she developed and implemented its North America communications strategy.
Ms. Laureano-Rikardsen earned a Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs from the University of Maryland.
