Cantor Fitzgerald Adds Veteran Scott Schefrin To Its Global Equities Team
New York, NY – February 23, 2010 - Cantor Fitzgerald announced that Scott Schefrin, formerly with Bear Stearns, has joined Cantor and will lead the firm’s Merger Arbitrage business for the Global Equities Group.
“Scott's demonstrated leadership and deep client relationships with institutional clients and hedge funds strategically complement our business, enabling Cantor to further amplify and sharpen our focus on meeting clients’ needs,” said Ken Savio, Global Head of Equities for Cantor Fitzgerald & Co.
Mr. Schefrin commented, "I am excited at the opportunity to help Cantor's clients maximize their investments in companies involved in mergers, acquisitions and other special situations. Cantor's equity and debt capital markets platform will allow us to assist clients throughout all aspects of the capital structure. Companies with overprotected balance sheets and pent-up demand, coupled with strong financing markets, lead us to believe that the markets are poised for a significant increase in M&A activity."
Mr. Schefrin spent 15 years at Bear Stearns where he was a Senior Managing Director and Global Head of Merger Arbitrage. He earned a B.S in International Economic Relations from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
Cantor Fitzgerald added over one hundred sales and trading professionals over the past year. Focused on a capital structure-centric business model and cross-market strategy, Cantor is continuing to grow its fixed income, equity and investment banking businesses.
