Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. Announces Continued Expansion In Its Investment Capital Markets Group With Formal Entry Into Municipal Bond And Public Finance Business
New York, NY – January 26, 2010 - Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. announced its entry into the Municipal Bond and Public Finance business today with the hiring of William O’Keefe as Senior Managing Director and Department Head of the Muni desk.
Shawn Matthews, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald and Co said, “Bill O’Keefe solidifies our entry into the municipal bond market as we continue to expand our first-class Capital Markets business. We continue to hire senior client relationship professionals that understand how to build businesses by focusing on the market needs of our institutional clients,” concluded Mr. Matthews.
Previously, Mr. O’Keefe was with Morgan Stanley where his leadership played a key role in that firm’s growth in the Public Finance and Municipal Bond markets. Notably, he has served on the Board of the MSRB, is a past Chairman of the Bond Market Association’s Municipal Securities Division and a founding member of MuniCenter. He has a degree from St. Michaels College.
Cantor Fitzgerald & Co is also pleased to announce that along with Bill O’Keefe, 7 other senior Municipal Bond professionals have joined as part of the new business effort. The new team consists of: David McMahon, Sandy Carrithers, Chris Grinnell, Elizabeth Andreev and Steve Kennedy and Kevin Steinhauer and Mike Allen.
David McMahon will be leading the sales effort. He joins Cantor from Morgan Stanley where he held a variety of sales and management roles over 22 years.
Sandy Carrithers brings 24 years of experience in trading, sales and public finance at Citigroup, and PaineWebber. Chris Grinnell joins with 19 years of sales experience at Morgan Stanley. Steve Kennedy was previously with Sovereign Securities and Commerce Capital Markets. Elizabeth Andreev joins from Susquehanna International Group where she was a municipal bond trader and market maker for municipal bond ETFs.
Kevin Steinhauer has overseen Cantor Fitzgerald’s municipal trading activities since 2004 along with Mike Allen who joined in Memphis after many years at FTN Securities.
