Robert Dentice Discusses: Cantor Fitzgerald's Co-Head of Healthcare on WellPoint-Amerigroup

As the buzz behind the Supreme Court's ruling to uphold healthcare reform settles, The Deal Pipeline chats about WellPoint Inc.'s recent $4.9 billion acquisition of managed-care company Amerigroup Corp. with Robert Dentice, managing director and co-head of healthcare at Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. Dentice predicts the acquisition will lead to similar deals springing up in the overall healthcare space. "Now that we have at least a short-term resolution to healthcare reform, I think it has taken a degree of uncertainty out of the system," Dentice explains, adding that this will ultimately "accelerate dealmaking activity." He also discusses the large premium in the WellPoint-Amerigroup deal, citing that it, as well as cost savings and consolidation, which he says are the major driving factors pushing M&A activity.
