Executive Managing Director and Deputy Head of Investment Banking
Michael Lehrman is Executive Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Merchant Banking at Cantor Fitzgerald & Co., a full service fixed income broker dealer and one of a select number of financial firms authorized to trade U.S. government securities with the Federal Reserve Bank in New York. With a significant presence in mortgage, high grade corporate, agency, treasury, repo and asset backed securities trading, the firm is a global leader in institutional equity and fixed income sales and trading. Mr. Lehrman is also Co-Founder and Chairman of Cantor Commercial Real Estate, a fully integrated commercial real estate finance company providing loan originations and securitization, loan sales and acquisition services, is the first new CMBS platform in a decade to originate, securitize, and lead manage its own deal, with an initial securitization of $635 million.
Mr. Lehrman is also Global Head of Real Estate at BGC. He is responsible for BGC’s real estate platform encompassing Newmark Knight Frank and assets of Grubb & Ellis, currently being integrated, with more than 100 offices in North America and 250 million square feet in Property and Facilities Management. The real estate group provides comprehensive real estate solutions to corporations, property owners, investors and developers across North America, as well as globally through its partnership with London-based Knight Frank, a global real estate enterprise with extensive worldwide capabilities and coverage.
Prior to joining Cantor Fitzgerald & Co., Mr. Lehrman was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse, and Co-Head of the Credit Suisse Real Estate Direct Group where he was responsible for over $100 billion in North American real estate loan origination and over $30 billion of high yield real estate debt and equity distribution. Mr. Lehrman oversaw the expansion of the business in the U.S., Mexico, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East, with offices in Dubai and Mexico City.
Mr. Lehrman is a graduate of Columbia Business School where he received an MBA in both Real Estate and Finance, New York University where he received a diploma in Real Estate, and Carnegie Mellon University where he received Bachelor of Science degrees in both Industrial Management and Managerial Economics.
