Cantor Fitzgerald held its Global Charity Day on Monday, September 12.



Cantor Fitzgerald held its annual Charity Day on Monday, September 12th, 2011. Together with BGC Partners, approximately $12 million was raised globally. Every year Cantor Fitzgerald and BGC Partners donate 100% of their global revenues on the day to charities around the world by hosting charities and celebrity ambassadors in commemoration of the 658 employees we lost in the World Trade Center attacks.  We are pleased to say that to date Cantor Fitzgerald and its affiliate BGC Partners have raised over $77 million for more than 160 charities around the world.

The mission of The Children's Tumor Foundation is to:

- Support persons with NF, their families and caregivers by providing thorough, accurate, current and readily accessible information;

- Assist in the development of clinical centers, best practices and other patient support mechanisms (but not including direct medical care) to create better access to quality healthcare for affected individuals; and,

The Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation is a leading source of funding for Alzheimer’s research. The Foundation serves Alzheimer’s patients and their families by seeking to understand the causes of, discover a cure for, and improve the lives of people with Alzheimer’s disease. Nobel laureate Dr. Paul Greengard directs the Foundation’s team of internationally renowned scientists who have been at the forefront of research for Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Greengard’s seminal findings have been the basis for much of modern day Alzheimer’s investigations. It also is a leader in public education through its website ALZinfo.org and Preserving Your Memory magazine. Only 8 cents on the dollar is used for overhead purposes.

Reach the World

Reach the WorldReach the World is building a pipeline of globally-competent students and educators who will succeed in and steward the 21st Century global community. Our program connects disadvantaged youth to volunteer mentors who are studying, working or exploring abroad. Through a highly structured program of online journalism, collaborative project-making, and videoconferencing, RTW students go on virtual journeys with their mentors – and expand their worldview and skills in the process. Readiness Center

Readiness Center

The mission of the Readiness Center is to provide educational programs for low-income parents and their pre-school through grade five children with the goal of fostering self-esteem in both parents and children by offering a variety of educational opportunities in a setting wherein they can be successful. The Readiness Center provides the following programs: 

1.   A Preschool Program (ages 3-5) . This program is unique because the parent attends with the child.  For the first ½ hour the parent and child work together, with the parent as the teacher, then the child continues the preschool day and the parent attends a class (offerings follow).

2.   Offerings for Parents

A.   Computer Class
Volunteers provide individualized help to learn or update skills. Parents may also study for their G.E.D. on our software.

B.   Craft, Sewing and Cooking Classes
Each group determines what they want to do.

C.   Parenting Classes
These are on-going throughout the year, and monthly luncheons with speakers are planned by the participants.

3.   City Kids' Program (K-5)
This is a homework assistance program that integrates prevention programs and enhances learning with our educational games, software, and lending library.

4.   Teen Volunteer/Work 50/50 Program
Teens work as mentors in the City Kids’ program and do
cleaning and preparation (cutting, assembling) of preschool materials.  They are paid for 50% of their work time.  The teens learn needed job skills.

Tribute WTC

Tribute WTCThe September 11th Families' Association supports victims of terrorism through communication, representation and peer support. Driven by a mission to unite the September 11th community, present evolving issues, and share resources for long-term recovery, the Association serves 9/11 family members with consistent communication. The September 11th Families` Association is the umbrella organization that inspires the work of the Tribute WTC Visitor Center.

Tribute WTC Visitor Center offers visitors to the World Trade Center site a place where they can connect with people from the September 11th community - family members, survivors, rescue and recovery workers, volunteers, and residents of Lower Manhattan. Through walking tours, exhibits, educational materials and programs, the Tribute WTC Visitor Center offers "Person to Person History", linking visitors who want to understand and appreciate these historic events with those who experienced them.

The 52nd Street Project

52nd street projectThe 52nd Street Project is to bring together kids (ages 9 to 18) from the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood, with theater professionals to create original theater. The primary activity of the Project is to present free theater. Voices of september 11thVoices of September 11th provides information and a wide range of support services and programs, including commemorative events, for 9/11 families, rescue workers and survivors.
